Knowledge Observatory Model (KOM)

KOM captures and organises needs, ideas, knowledge gaps and practical challenges shared by communities, institutions, researchers and organisations.

Knowledge Observatory Model (KOM)

KOM is a model, not a separate organisation. It helps make needs visible, groups related submissions, clarifies the challenge and supports prioritisation. Selected needs can then move into FutureLife CONNECT for challenge definition and expertise matching.

How it works

How KOM works

01

Capture

Gather needs, ideas and challenges from relevant people and institutions.

02

Organise

Group submissions and identify themes, gaps and priorities.

03

Clarify

Describe the need and the context in a useful, structured way.

04

Refer to CONNECT

Move selected needs into challenge briefs and expertise matching where appropriate.

Capturing a need does not guarantee that a solution will be developed. Progress depends on feasibility, resources, participant availability, permissions, data protection and appropriate governance.
